Coldest event of the current AWGL season and LBI National proved to be a tough test. Forty players teed it up, fought their way around this outstanding course and the competition in all three divisions was intense.

Leading the way in the Open division gross was Rich Wade from Philly’s J.F. Byrne GC as he posted the day’s best round…76. Centerton pro, Chad Cerino took the top Open net prize with an even par 72. Chad doubled down with a shot on the par 3 fourth hole that stopped12’ 1” from the flagstick and he pocketed closest to pin money. Dave Bauer came over from Bay Lea GC in Tom’s River, NJ and the trip was worthwhile as he won 3 skins in the Open division.

Playing out of J.F. Byrne, Sean Cooke made it two wins in a row by capturing 1st place in Senior division gross with 80. Senior net top spot went to Joe Saverine from Centerton as he paired his 21 handicap to a nice round of 95 for the winning 74. Delaware was well represented as DuPont CC’s Patrick Baronsky made a birdie 3 on the second hole and was the only skin in the Senior division…worth $100. Seaview’s Paul Leddy nailed it to 5’ 2” on hole #14 and this great shot (it almost went in) gave him the CTP win.

Jon Mabry’s 84 was low in Super Senior gross and the Moorestown FC linkster took 1st place $$$. It was a nice drive up the Garden State Parkway from Cape May National GC and Bill Holmes posted a net 76 to be tied by Jim McCarry from Sewell, NJ. In the ensuing playoff Bill made a 5 on the first extra hole to beat Jim’s 6.

You guys have done a great job of getting your teams on the tee sheet for the “Christmas Scramble” at Avalon this coming Monday. If you’re planning to play and haven’t contacted me, please text/email your teams. Reminder: the shotgun start is at 9:30AM ….a half hour earlier than normal. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Avalon and please……..Drive Safe.
