Event #2 of the current AWGL season was completed last Friday at the Indian Spring CC and the highlight of the day was a hole in one by Centerton’s Gary Peart as he carved a gap wedge from 118 yards into the cup with two bounces and a slight roll to the right. It was his career fifth ace. That’s the good news…..bad news is that #13 wasn’t the closest to pin hole for the Senior Division.

Open division action saw PGA pro, Quentin Griffith III take first place low gross with 74. Playing out of Pennsauken CC, Q III paired nines of 38 – 36 for the winning total. One shot behind was pro and GM from White Oaks, Mitch Primas as he turned in a 75. Low net in the Open went to PGA pro Bill Torlucci as he carded a one under par 69. Open closest to pin money was pocketed by Pennsaken’s Jack O’Connell.

Tom Alestock from Running Deer made it two wins in a row as he lead the Senior division gross with 75….a stroke ahead of  J.F. Byrne’s Sean Cooke. Senior net went to Kevin Omori as the Blue Hen from DuPont CC won in a playoff with Galloway National’s Mark Papineau. They were tied at net 69 and Kevin’s 12 handicap beat Mark’s 15.  Senior closest to pin was contested on hole #6 and Dave Smith from Cape May zeroed one in to 44” for the victory.

Best scores of the day turned up in the Super Senior division (ages 66 and up) and once again we need a playoff to determine the winner. Playing out of Wedgwood GC, past AWGL champion, Joe Russo shot 72 and was tied by Tom Dicinti from Lookaway GC. The subsequent playoff of handicaps saw Joe’s +1 topped Tom’s 2. The Philly guys from J.F. Byrne continued their winning ways as Tom Faro shot a nice 77 gross and with his 11 handicap (not for long) put a net 66 on the scoreboard for the win. Hole #13 saw Van Wolosin stripe it to 7’ 6” and this great shot on a tricky par three was a winner in SS CTP.

Really good golf being played in all three divisions and the competition was hot. The prize recap and the scoresheets from Indian Spring are attached. The tee sheet for next week’s tournament…#3…at White Oaks is on the clipboard and entries are starting to come in. Please text/email me with your groups/foursomes if you’re planning to play. We’ll see everyone at White Oaks and please…….Travel Safe!
